Ohm is a new development rental building in the West Chelsea/Herald Heights/Far West  Area of NYC.

(Still no catchy name for the locale, but formerly club row before the onset of the bottle drought Winter 2010.)

Anyhoo… the building draws from it’s surroundings in decor… it feels like a club owner was consulted for 10% of the detailing, and I know that may sound horrible, but it works.

Little neon detailing provides pops of pink and aqua that makes it feel like the elevator ride to your apartment might just stop off at a VIP style Champagne room.  Maybe that didn’t sell you, oh well.

The best part of the building in my opinion, aside from the NO FEE status, are the views.

The amenities I will list below and they’re definitely sweet, but the views are better.  Being this far west you get water views, city views, and views of the Hudson Rail Yard, which are refreshingly alien and cinematic in quality.

NYC is all about the subway, so looking at rail yards from your window might have more emotional resonance with a Midwesterner perhaps, but for me, it was an interesting urban detail that, instead of conveying feelings of blight, triggered the relaxing image of a hard working city at rest.  OMMMMM.

Oh yeah, Darryl Strawberry supposedly lives there too.
And one of my good friends was one of the first tenants in the building and has been enjoying it thoroughly, at least that’s what he tells me.   🙂

Well, I could go on and on, but here are some prices of available units in the building currently.

Alcove Studio $2850   One Bed $3200  Two Bed $4550.  Two bed 35th floor balcony $6800

Second floor recreational space includes: 3,400 SF lounge with fireplace, billard and card tables, large screen TV, indoor shuffleboard, video arcade.

Building amenities include 3400 sq. ft. lounge, 2100 sq. ft. gym, 4100 sq. ft. garden terrace, retro arcade, shuttle bus service, landscaped sky deck, and on-site parking. In addition, it boasts environmentally friendly features: filtered water, EnergyStar appliances, natural gas boilers, and bicycle storage.

Apartments feature 9-foot ceilings, floor-to-ceiling corner windows, open kitchens, hardwood floors, washers and dryers, in-home safes, and stainless steel appliances.

As I said, the building is No Fee, so if you or anyone you know is interested in seeing this building,  Shoot me an e-mail and i’d be happy to introduce you.
